and so, long overdue for an escape from the city, i hit the road for a week long break. planned out months before, i had considered that mid-june should be decent weather on the coast for hiking, camping, photos. that held true for about the first 6 hours on the coast, but straight dismal conditions were to follow for the duration. this photo set will be out of chronological sequence, as i first visited cape disappointment in washington state, made my way down the oregon coastline, through northern california's redwood forest, and to san francisco for a couple of days. i then returned to the southern oregon coast for 2 days and a night at cape blanco, shown here. cape blanco is the furthest western point of the lower continental united states, and i stayed in a rented cabin on the western edge of a campground, half a mile behind where this picture was taken.
